SSgt Douglas A Deacon was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on June 9,
2004 with full military honors. Born in Port Huron, MI he later moved to Omaha,
NE. Doug died May 20,2004 from kidney failure, primarily due to complications
from a change in his medication administered by the VA. Doug was buried on a
hill overlooking the Pentagon, not far from the area damaged on 9/11
The Recon Platoon sends our deepest sympathy to the family for the loss of
our comrade and friend, SSgt Doug Deacon who passed away in May. We salute you
SSgt Deacon for your loyalty, valor and dedicated service to your country . The
rest of us can only imagine what anguish, suffering and hardships this one
"senseless mission" created for you and your family. Rest in peace Doug, you
were a great soldier and a great friend !
